Construction of the Assembly Hall began on August 11, 1877 and was completed in 1882 at a total cost of $90,000. It has seating capacity for an audience of approximately 1,400 people. Currently, the Assembly Hall hosts occasional free weekend music concerts and is filled as overflow for the Church's Annual and Semiannual General Conferences.
In 1855 William Staines built this 2 Story house in what is now downtown Salt Lake City. It was expanded in 1867 to become Utah's first mansion. It was used to entertain prestigious visitors, including presidents and generals, foreign dignitaries and the celebrities of the time. In 1978 the state bought it and it was almost burned down in 1979. In 1984 it was restored to what you see now and regained its place as one of the jewels of Salt Lake City. In 2005 the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints purchased it from the city and uses it as a reception center.
Since we didn't have enough time the first day we were at the Evergreen Air and Space Museum to get pictures of all the planes that they have out side the Museums. So one our way back home from our vacation in New Port we made a quick stop to get a few of them before we headed home.
While I was walking around the Evergreen Air and Space Museum they had this Titan II Booster on display. The engines were two stories below the main floor. While the tour guide was telling the group about the booster I went down and got a few pictures.
